Kira Logan is a skilled visual artist set to work on a high-profile project when she receives an anonymous letter. The letter is attempting to warn her off the job, the subjects considered unworthy of praise. Kira is not alone in receiving such letters, as they have also gone to her patrons. Her employers attempt to allay her concerns. Kira is staying at her employers’ residence in New Mexico while she works on the project. Kira’s concerns about the success of the display are amplified when she sits through a cringeworthy dinner with her employers’ family.

Kira’s employers, Bill and Celli Medford, enjoy the wealth earned through the sale of medical supplies. Bill’s ancestors were well respected doctors in the community. While Bill and Celli want to honor the past, a couple of their children worry more about their inheritance. They view the planned sculpture as a waste. None of the family nor Kira know about the author of the letters and their plans with regards to the sculpture.

Roselyn is a young woman bearing a grudge against the Medford family. The grudge goes back a generation or two, and is deeply personal. She believes one of the venerable Medford scions impregnated and then abandoned one of her relatives to their death. Roselyn is intent on sabotaging the tribute. The letters of warning were her first shots across the bow, from there the intensity will ramp up. Roselyn’s desire for revenge is as fierce as the greed of the Medford children. Roselyn will ally herself with useful idiots, seduce with a smile and a batting of the eyelashes in order to see her plans through. As Kira attempts to work on her project, various hurdles are thrown in her way, from missing equipment to damaged frameworks to a dead co-worker. The stakes have never been as high as this job becomes secondary to Kira’s personal safety.

Homicide in Bronze: A Kira Logan Mystery is a controlled burn of a rollicking Mystery/Thriller which proves to be a charming read. The plot develops cohesively as the author jumps in feet first with the dilemma facing Kira. Kira is not new to drama in her work, yet the omnipresent menace in her latest venture, has raised her concern. Her wish for caution by her employers is initially dismissed, but her foresight proves fortuitous as the situation deteriorates. Kira’s intelligence and courage is contrasted with the avarice of the Medford children and the wrath of Roselyn. Homicide in Bronze excels as a palpably exciting thriller coupled with a study of the best/worst of human nature.
