The Auroral Entanglement truly finds the wonder in everyday life and explores an extraordinary gift in an ordinary world, fully embracing the idea of walking in another person’s shoes. Author James Nabi Michael has intelligently written a true Sci-Fi book with precise details and representing in-depth research. The main character, Jack, has telepathic powers – he can hear other people’s thoughts. Although he never hears more than he should, or is seen to invade other’s privacy, one falls into believing this power exists and the book makes for enjoyable circumstances. He uses his newfound abilities to reach out and help people in a range of characters. It may seem at times almost too idealistic, but the real-world struggles and events ground the story.
Through his ability, he connects two daughters with their mother one last time, a son with his estranged mother, helps a failing marriage, and saves lives. He fully embraces his abilities in the purest sense by helping others. Jack uses his abilities to connect to people with nature, in a way becoming one with everything around him, seeing below the superficial actions.
There’s nothing sinister about any of the characters. They’re real, ordinary people which upon discovering Jack has telepathic abilities, fully accept him and the good he does. No one is overly surprised by it and instead are awed by it. It’s a nice twist, because there’s no truly dire consequence which doesn’t mean it’s a perfect world. It’s about real life that just happens to include hearing people’s thoughts, but the telepathic powers are a natural and scientific part of the world.
Science is used as a way to understand telepathy as Jack researches and goes to a doctor for tests, but the beauty of what Jack can do isn’t found in the scientific explanations, instead it’s what he does with his abilities. The Aurora Borealis is where his story begins as what brings forth Jack’s abilities, but it plays a more important role than just giving Jack an extraordinary gift. It shows that the magic is in the world, it’s in nature and in people.
James Nabi Michael’s style is down to earth, which makes the story even more appealing. A majority of the story is with the people that Jack helps from the boy lost in the woods to the mother and son estranged. The amazing thing with these stories is how easy they are to relate to because they’re everyday stories which finds the beauty in life. A book with a twist, I recommend The Auroral Entanglement to all fans of the Sci-Fi genre.
