Add together one part each sand, water and sun; along with two people in love, and you get the formula for the foundation of Unsullied Islands, Beaches & Landscapes. In his collection of poetry, reflections and a bit of a travel chronicle, author and poet Cyril Oghomeh created a reading experience as romantically alluring as palm trees along a secluded beach with the surf gently lapping at the feet of lovers. Unabashed in his candid reveal of emotions within his whirlpool of love, attraction, respect, humor and fun loving frolicking, Oghomeh brings readers to spots on a “bucket list” in his descriptions of the far-away and exotic locations around the world.
To places of which just the name itself induces relaxation such as Antelope Canyon, or La Isla Bonits, or the King’s Gardens of Cayo Coco in Cuba, readers are whisked off to these beyond beautiful locations where shirts and shoes are not needed – just plenty of sun tan oil. Each page is artfully superimposed over a screened graphic of a couple joyously in love along the surf of a beach, creating as much as a background of relaxation as meditation music echoing during a spa massage. The feelings of love based upon respect are prevalent as readers are taken from the beaches to the bedroom, and under the sheets. Celebrating life with love, one can imagine the ceiling fan gently moving the humid air saturated with the sweet fragrances of tropical fauna while the world revolves yet time stands still for lovers.
This is a book for lovers to share. The list of locations becomes more than simply a pastime of travel, but more like a lifetime commitment of getting away from overly crowded populated places and finding those deserted beaches to walk on. Sure, I’m jealous of the locations Cyril Oghomeh flaunts, but most of all I felt contentment just to be “taken along” on his trips by deciphering the hidden meanings between the lines, so to speak.
Unsullied Islands, Beaches & Landscapes would be best to buy for a lover as a gift, and inserted within the book a pair of airline tickets to your own bucket list beach of your choice. Reading Oghomeh fun-loving and happy thoughts, blended in with wonderful wit and humor creates an experience that will no doubt linger in your mind; perhaps nudging out some of your own memories yet mostly creating the motivation to go out and walk barefoot along the gentle surf once again.
