It is not often one finds such clear, optimistic, loving, loyal and faithful appreciation to God written in prose. Poet Lois Lee Siler has collected a variety of her poems and presents them in her new book titled Blue Butterflies in Heaven.
After thanking some people who have made her book possible, most importantly her love with Jesus, she goes on to write about so many topics; yet with a theme of love, friendship, faith and Heaven. As she is clearly indebted to God, her work flows with the love of Jesus providing her the insights to view her life in her own way. Many of her poems are complimented by Bible verses, or at times famous quotations of noteworthy people.
In her section titled “Man In The Moon,” she enjoys her own imagination running wild, mentioning God must have a sense of humor to allow this to occur. “Oh, the crazy mind of a poet,” she wrote. In her poem titled “Marshmallow Clouds” she knows God is having fun painting them and decorating the sky, as she inserted Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” And after her very amazing thoughts of motherhood, she shares a quote by Abe Lincoln, “All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my mother.” Amen to that I say! With love and respect, Lois Lee Siler provides a captivating, honest, humorous and well written poetry book allowing readers to reflect on their own similarities to people and events she shares. Often re-reading a poem for a second or third time, pausing to look deeper into her prose, reveals even more insight and readers will see her choice of words is extraordinary – not chosen to pontificate or show off, but to include all into the world of Blue Butterflies in Heaven.
This collection is a wonderful gift to a family with faith, to see how God’s hand has given all of us the ability to appreciate the little – and big – things in life. Sometimes we all need a reminder of the “why” beneath it all, and Blue Butterflies in Heaven is just the catalyst to bring this humble appreciation to mind. A life made full with the family, friends and faith brought to our attention with so much love in such a creative way by Lois Lee Siler, a blue butterfly of her own.
