In exchange for the house, Maggie dog sits his dog Albert. A television addicted Great Dane! Shortly other women move into the house: Brenda, Maggie’s real estate agent friend, beautiful movie actress Kate, and Belle, a successful Mary Kate consultant. Each woman needing a new lifestyle, a place to go to rediscover themselves. They find a place together with understanding, compassion and companionship as they each struggle and stumble through their own hardships and build upon their friendships.
Every now and then readers will come across a book that touches their hearts and soul. That is exactly what It’s a Heart Thing does. It tugs at your heart, in all the right places and threatens to bring tears to your eyes. Each one of the characters have an intense depth and personality, in which readers will feel as if they are reading about four of their dearest friends. Warren’s lyrical writing gives readers comfort and joy in reading about these women’s friendships and how they lean on one another for strength. Warren perfectly melds the lightheartedness with hard hitting serious issues such as abuse and rape. It’s a Heart Thing is a novel that reaches deep into the core and evokes emotions you forgot existed.
There comes a time when a woman needs to read a book such as this to remind them of their ability to survive lifestyle changes at any age. This book is a symbol of strength and determination for each woman in her own way. It’s almost empowering to read a novel with women who start out at the bottom, sunk to the lowest of lows and find the strength to rise above it. It is a novel that while the reader may not experience the exact same situations, they are able to relate to the characters and their emotions. Warren has the ability to evoke intense emotions from her readers with It’s a Heart Thing.
There are times when a book radiates that it needs to be shared with other readers, and this is one of those times. As one reads through it, they are reminded of other people who benefit from reading this tale. It is a highly recommended book, one that will read multiple times. Ms. Warren’s novel does a spectacular job at creating a story that will reach numerous people and stick with them long after they have finished the book.
