We are introduced to Lawrence and Lisa, a couple who go about their daily lives happily. The first chapters are about how the two live and their relationship with their family. Lawrence is a government agent who has just retired and is trying to settle as a civilian. Lawrence, Lisa, Benny, Shelly, Bernie, and Angie related well and made great characters. The conversations the couples shared every time they met were light and amusing. Reading about their lives was amazing as the author made the storyline fun from the beginning. I enjoyed it when Angie and Bernie hosted Lawrence and Lisa in their house. The joke they shared about the little boy who was curious about the female body was one of the most notable moments during the couple’s stay at their friends’ house.
The storyline gradually moves from a couple leading their normal life when something happens and Lawrence is asked to help in a challenging task. The zombie apocalypse turned everything upside down. Confusion ensued among the people and everyone tried to look for a solution. Lawrence was among the heroes in the book as he was selfless and cared about the people who mattered to him. Lawrence being a Commander in the UDIR was great for the story. His character is what one can describe as ambitious, focused, and goal oriented. I like how the author developed his character, making him appear a star even when handling simple and stress-free tasks. Lawrence’s bravery and charisma are what I admired most about him.
Project Revenant started with a plain storyline and got to be thrilling as one progressed the chapters. Reading about the zombie apocalypse was thrilling and electrifying. The corporation displayed by UDIR, Lawrence Drexel, and every other team that came to fight the zombies were admirable. Their organization showed how teamwork is important if you want to defeat a common enemy. Being taken through the team’s schemes, their strategies and tactics were electrifying. The reader could feel the energy John Maida, Lawrence Drexel and every other party involved had when they worked. Every character had traits that make them likable. I enjoyed this about the story, as reading a book that has a few villains is lovely.
One remarkable thing about Project Revenant is the brevity of the chapters. This made reading fun and exciting. It is easy to piece the different parts of the storyline as you read on. The sentences were of ideal length too. The author’s writing style is laid-back and stirring. Some scenes will bring out strong emotions in you, and others have you feel good about the characters. Lawrence Drexel Jr’s diction is perfect and stimulating to read. The author did not use strong words or heavy jargon that would leave the reader lost. The sentences are easy to understand for all readers. I recommend Project Revenant to readers who enjoy teen and young adult literature as the book is incredible. You will enjoy the drama and action by both major and minor characters.
