One of the most important ways people as a whole can impact the world at large is the way in which they communicate with one another. As the great Buddha once said, “Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care for people will hear them and be influenced by them for good or ill.” In prolific author William O’Shaughnessy’s book Radio Active readers are given insight into one of the most revered journalists and political writers of our time and the longstanding career he has had.
An anthology collecting the essays, tributes, eulogies, on-air interviews and more, this book goes to great lengths to provide clarity and information on the author’s work, as well as the lengths gone to for bi-partisanship throughout his career. From the support of President George H.W. Bush and his family throughout his career to his friendship with former New York Governor Mario Cuomo; the author showcases a lifetime of achievements and work towards the past and present, having relationships with some of the most interesting and influential people, going to fascinating places and seeing many things around the world.
One of the first things to strike the reader will be just how collected, matter of fact and well-spoken the author is in his collection of works as he displays a lifetime of work. A large part of the work done by the author illustrates his passion for the First Amendment, freedom of speech, international affairs and more. The author does a marvelous job of writing in a voice which speaks to the bi-partisanship he has practiced throughout his career, speaking to both sides of the “aisle” on issues important both in the past and the modern day.
This is a book for anyone who enjoys good political commentary, social issues, anthologies and discussions on important topics in the modern era. As someone who is passionate about the state of the world in this day and age, I found the author’s works insightful and honest. While readers will not agree with all opinions stated by the author or his viewpoints, that is the reason why the author’s work is so important. Not only does it showcase how those with opposing views can find common ground, but it opens the readers’ minds up to provoking thoughts and leaves room for open discussions on the issues presented and talked about throughout this book.
In a world filled with such political, social and moral upheaval, a book from the likes of the distinguished William O’Shaughnessy is well received and keeps the reader engaged throughout the entirety of the “Radio Active”. Readers should grab their copies of Radio Active today, as the book is not only a well written, evenly paced read, but does a great job of drawing the reader in and speaking on a multitude of subjects which readers will be able to identify with – one way or another. More than anything, it is a great testament to the work and distinguished career of a renowned author, writer, broadcaster and journalist, making this a must read book.
