Author Jennifer Scott North has written a charming little storybook to be read to children, or once they are old enough for them to read it to themselves titled, Here Kitty! Kitty! Kitty!

The characters in this book are three little kittens. Sneakers is a frisky kitten, he is cream colored with white paws, thus getting the name Sneakers. There was a calico named Shadow, because she blended into the surroundings like having camouflage. Then there was Trouble, a white and gray cat appropriately named for her personality getting into trouble all of the time. These three kittens all are growing up together in a house, where the (foster) parents enjoy watching and interacting with them.

Broken down into chapters, each of which is its own short story, Jennifer Scott North brings a loving, caring, and kindness to her narration of little incidents during the upbringing of the kittens. In the chapter, “Who is King?” she tells of the kitten’s competition to get to the top of the scratching pole and sit on the platform. How they go about fooling each other to gain the advantage is simply adorable. Then the stories tell of the mischief of these kittens, and even one in which Trouble gets herself locked in the basement, and was trapped. Her meows gained the attention of her littermates, and she was rescued. One day the (foster) parents brought home a dog, named Buster. The kittens had never seen a dog so were apprehensive, but eventually, realize the dog wasn’t a threat, they all got along just fine.

The end of the story is when the parents move to a new home, and were not able to bring the trio of kittens with them, so they found a farm for the cats to grow up in. After a few days, the kittens forgot about their childhood house and lived happily ever after on their farm. The stories are perfect for bedtime recital to little kitten-loving kids going off to dreamland. The antics of the kittens are classic in their mischievous ways, and the ending with the melancholy separation from their initial caretakers tells a moral about how kittens become cats, and need to move on.

Here Kitty! Kitty! Kitty! is a book in which can be read over-and-over while each time enjoying the stories contained within as being fresh, furry in detail, and frisky like a newborn kitten
