The Prophet is a work of fiction which tackles a reality that many may find questionable. It is difficult to stick this novel into a single genre because it dances between so many. It has something for everyone; if you are a fan of psychic and past-life studies, you are especially going to get a kick out of this book. It’s not all about reincarnation though; there is plenty of romance to go around in this book.

The book follows Jai, a past-life specialist and a hypnotherapist who has become famous through his seminars, books, and media about his work with the study of reincarnation. Though he is incredibly popular and wouldn’t have trouble finding a date, Jai stays single until a chance meeting occurs which lights a fire within him. He finds himself suddenly enamored with a woman who he hasn’t officially met, which has a very interesting twist in and of itself. He eventually gets an introduction, which sets off a great love story.

The beginning of the book is mostly about Jai and his career, but there is a sharp swing in the second half that focuses more on the love story of Jai and Roxy. It’s fun to read how the relationship between the two blossoms through their spirituality via an unknown connection. You will find yourself emotionally engaged to the two as they take their journey together.

Author Gay Le obviously has a passion for writing about past lives. Le writes with enthusiasm that shows how excited he is to tell the story. It is clear that Le writes in a way which comes from his heart, showing the readers a lot to appreciate about this book. While the flow of the book is a little choppy, the overall idea helps the reader to look past it.

If you are a fan of romance novels, you will enjoy this book. If you are a fan of romance with the undercurrent of the idea of reincarnation, you will love this book even more. Fans of The Prophet will find the conclusion of the book satisfying, and when finished will have a feeling to be hopeful for the rest of the lives of these characters, and what may come after.
