In Getting Right With God, author Joseph C. Way helps the reader understand the supreme being which is God, how he works, and what he expects of his people. After paging the book, the reader gets to be knowledgeable about the start of religion, the changes it has undergone, and the similarities between Christianity and other religions. The author is articulate and amazing when explaining his points which the reader gains being educated on life’s complexities and the key meanings of why we exist. I applaud the author for how he arranged the book. Getting Right With God is divided into three major sections with each part focusing on one major theme. The first part is about Gods and God, the second about Jesus, while the last part talks about followers of Christ.
I appreciate the arrangement in the book as it enables the reader to fully understand one topic before going onto the next. The writing in this book is organic. Every subject is well structured as the author perfectly defines important issues. Every chapter is crucial. In Getting Right With God, Joseph C. Way familiarizes the reader with God, and answers difficult questions. One thing I like about the author is his style of introducing new topics. Joseph C. Way has a way of making the reader engaged in his narrations. He breaks his discussions into small bits that are easily comprehensible and adds in relatable content the reader can connect with.
I enjoyed reading the real-life stories the author has. His incorporation of human stories helps one compare, contrast, and reflect on actions people take, and also help enables us to think of better ways to live as a child of God. Religion, as we know it, began long ago in many forms, and knowing how different eras adopted different variations, the author ensured that he touched on a bit of the history to expand the readers’ perspective. Reading this book will make you love God. Being a child of God makes you a lucky soul as you know that all your needs are catered to. Joseph C. Way’s friendly tone and gentle way of making one feel that they belong is one of his greatest skills.
Reading this book is both therapeutic and informative. You get to learn about different Christian personalities and why religion keeps thriving despite the criticism. Every part of the book has vital lessons, but part three was my favorite. I saw myself in many of the discussions the author had and even pondered about my own ways. Some of the most interesting discussions were about early followers and present-day followers of Christ. Even with the contrast, one could see that every follower of Christ has one goal at the end; to love, please, and serve Christ. Some methods applied by early followers may have seemed too aggressive but I appreciate the author for making his readers understand the genesis of it all. This book opened my eyes to many things relating to religion and brought me to understand God better.
