Of all of our pursuits, there is none greater than love. Whether we admit it to ourselves or not, we are all looking for some form of love in our lives. Whether it is the love of a parent to their child, a great friendship that knows no bounds, or a romance whose fire never burns out, love is an all-encompassing and emotional component of life that everyone desires for themselves. As Henry Van Dyke once said, “Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.”
In author Raymie Andrews book, Unconditional, the author explores the concept of conditional vs unconditional love. The book highlights the lessons and experiences that shaped the authors perspective on unconditional love, from the lessons their father taught them, to the lessons that Christianity has taught them and how Godly love is something that our society needs to embrace in order to fully appreciate unconditional love.
The author did a great job of writing not only clearly and with precision, but with passion for the subject. The concept of conditional love in our society is not new, but sadly is a lesson so many have failed to learn to this day. Treating one another with respect, kindness, and unconditional love is something that could greatly benefit our society, and the author uses their own personal beliefs and experiences through their faith to lay the groundwork for that concept. The balance of personal experiences and studios teachings from their faith were well integrated into each chapter, and the author’s use of imagery to relay these powerful experiences really captured the emotions and essence of the author’s message.
This is the perfect read for those who enjoy Christian Living books, especially those that teach how to explore unconditional love through faith and belief in Christianity. I do appreciate the attention and care the author showed through their experiences how those of differing faiths and beliefs could still come together and show unconditional love despite their own personal differences. The book is especially unique as it is also a guide to how young and upcoming Youth Pastors could utilize these lessons for their own work.
A memorable, heartfelt, and engaging read for those who love to learn and grow in their faith, author Raymie Andrews’s Unconditional is a must-read book. The detailed yet emotional way the author relayed their story and the way the author was able to relay to the message personally was something many readers will feel connected to, and makes this book essential to those studying Christian Living.
