Of all the questions that this world has to offer, one of the most common and most sought after is the ever-lasting meaning of life. What does this life have to offer us, and what purpose do we serve in the greater collective of the Universe? Whether we struggle to find meaning in our own lives or are feeling reflective in our thoughts, questions of life are a natural progression of this reality which we are living in. As Marie Curie once said, “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”
In author Anand Shraddhan’s Ramblings of the Path: Beyond the Tyranny of the Mind, the author explores the concept of life on a very personal scale, looking back on their life and examining things in a very reflective way. From their earliest years in childhood, to traveling to India and meeting guru Rajneesh and finding the meaning of life and what it means to be human, the author explores the world after finding their awakening through meditation and guidance.
This was a truly thought-provoking and engaging read. So different from the typical “spiritual awakening/life guidance” style reads, this book shows an honest and unique experience to the author and their own life. The author’s writing is so unique, full of honesty and thoughtfulness in their approach to the subject of faith vs spiritualism and the importance of meditation and connecting with our own minds. The author’s experiences that really captured my attention was the experiences he had in India and meeting Rajneesh, an infamous guru whom I have heard so much about through other research. To hear the author’s personal experiences and connection to these teachings was enlightening, to say the least.
For those of you who are fans of memoirs and books which explore spiritualism without forcing the reader to commit or believe in one thing or another outright, this is the perfect book for you. While the author’s writing rejects religions like Christianity based on their own personal experiences, the special lessons that they learned along the way and the connection they felt to meditation and connecting with the mind was less preaching, and more reflective to give readers interested in this topic a chance to see what they experienced for themselves.
A memorable, thought-provoking, and entertaining yet profound read, author Anand Shraddhan’s Ramblings of the Path: Beyond the Tyranny of the Mind is a must-read book. The impactful and mindful way the author wrote their experiences, along with the soul-searching concept the author explores throughout this book will really resonate with readers, and create a unique reading experience that cannot be matched.
