Under His Wings is a sweet and inspirational novel about faith, love, and family. Author Rosemary Fisher has written a book that will easily engage readers.

Under His Wings tells the story of Cooper, a rural Kansas man who is dealing with a crisis when his father, Walter, is diagnosed with cancer. His family is already reeling with the loss of his brother, Patrick, when this tragedy with his father deeply impacts the family. While he’s dealing with that trauma, he also is intrigued by two women in his life, Becky, a vet assistant, and Misty, a waitress in a local diner. Cooper depends on his faith to help him cope with his complicated issues in his life.

Cooper is a great protagonist which readers will cheer for throughout the novel. He copes with his father’s illness and other family dramas with grace and faith. He also deals with unexpected drama with Misty as a gentleman. Cooper is also an honorable gentleman when he’s interacting with Becky and her adorable daughter, Jenny. While he’s not perfect, he maintains his integrity to be the best man he can be to his loved ones.

The other characters are well-developed as well. Becky is a stable character that grows in her faith as she becomes more involved with Cooper. Misty is an intriguing character who plays a compelling love interest and even villain in the novel. Jenny is the delightful comic relief and potential matchmaker for Cooper and Becky.

Fisher’s writing is very homespun and heartfelt. Readers will feel like they’ve been transported to a beautiful farm in the Midwest with her vivid descriptions of magnificent horses and rural scenery. The spiritual themes of the novel are also emotional, but not preachy to readers as well.  When Cooper shows his Christian faith to Becky, it’s through his thoughtful actions. When characters quote Bible verses, it’s out of their own genuine faith and love of God. Even readers who aren’t religious will be moved by the characters’ devotion to love and kindness.

Under His Wings would be best for readers who like romance novels with a spiritual message, such as A Love Like Ours by Becky Wade or His First Love by Liz Issacson.  The novel would also be best for readers who want to enjoy frontier or Western romantic fiction.

Under His Wings is a compelling novel that will show how faith and dedication can lead to peace and happiness.  Fisher’s novel will be a delight to readers.
