If there is one thing we as a people cannot resist, it is a good mystery. As the modern age of technology has shown, people are always eager to dive head-first into any sort of mystery; whether it be a true crime mystery, a paranormal mystery, or even a historical mystery that could rewrite how we view the world of old, mysteries are a puzzle that tests our intellect and highlights our desire to uncover the truth. As Anthony deMello once said, “It is a great mystery that though the human heart longs for truth, in which alone it finds liberation and delight, the first reaction of human beings to truth is one of hostility and fear!”
In authors Paul Donsbach and Alia Sina’s Knights of the Lost Temple – Book One: The Bronze Scrolls, the authors explore the heart of mystery and suspense through an action-packed and heartfelt journey of discovery. When attorney and investigator Sam Romero takes on a case to decipher an ancient bronze scroll which is said to be a treasure map to several sites holding gold and other treasures, he joins forces with the lovely Israeli reporter Rebecca Schreiber and a team of researchers to unlock the mysteries of the scroll. However, when a rival businessman has plans of his own for the scrolls, Sam must open his mind to new possibilities that will test his beliefs, use abilities he had hoped to resist forever, and discover a secret knighthood responsible for his safety – as he rushes to protect those closest to him from dangerous forces.
A heart pounding and mesmerizing mystery and suspense novel, the authors have brilliantly captured the magic and awe that history and the mysteries that it breeds can have for readers and investigators alike. The theme of human connection and the similarities that exist throughout most of the belief systems of the world is felt early on in this read, and as someone who has seen and felt these connections and similarities for so long, it was engaging as a reader to read the authors bring these connections to the forefront of this narrative.
This is the perfect read for readers who enjoy mystery, suspense, action & adventure, elements of the supernatural, and history as a whole. As a fan of these genres, I found the balance and tone that the authors brought out within all these genres was excellent, and the character growth of the protagonists was heartfelt and passionate, as was the rich mythos that the authors integrated into the narrative itself.
Combining a thoughtful balance of history, mythology, and adventure romance, authors Paul Donsbach and Alia Sina’s Knights of the Lost Temple – Book One: The Bronze Scrolls is a must-read mystery novel. A gripping tale of ancient power, secret societies, and inner-strength and heartfelt romance, readers will be hard-pressed to put this novel down, and will be on the edge of their seats in eager anticipation of the next installment of this brand-new series.
