In this edition of author Alice Chan’s REACH Your Dreams: Five Steps to Be a Conscious Creator in Your Life we are exposed once again to the REACH method and how it has become relevant, even more so in today’s world. I have read many such books in the past but found this book to be very engaging and full of practical expertise, relative practices, and easy to associate with situations in my life.
One thing which is comforting when reading a book such as this, which is supposed to aid our lives, is to know the writer. I enjoyed that author Alice Chan, early on, shares her personal stories about writing this book, and talks about the day which everything changed. As a brain surgery survivor myself, I recognized the journey people go on and the ever-challenging battle for making changes. Her honesty was appreciated.
The REACH method is one which is easy to recall. Each letter stands for something and works together in a group which can change your life. We aren’t just told big words and left trying to figure them out; there are contemplation exercises, stories, analogies and summaries to help you through it each chapter. It’s not a 5-day fix; you are encouraged to truly spend time with the book and the exercises and really let them work overtime. You need to have the time to analyze the problem and visualize the results.
I found the writing and ideas easy to read and follow. One of my usual complaints of books of this genre, is I feel they try to impress you with big words, or hard-to-understand theories. Author Alice Chan does not have to try to prove how smart she is because the method inherently makes sense. I applaud the reprint as I do feel it is as relevant now as when published. Overall, I would recommend the book to anyone trying to make positive change in their life.
