Benny “F” Johnson is an insurance agent at BestEver Insurance; his life seems prettymundane as a workaholic and fantasy world addict. His love of fantasy begins to impose itself into his world when he sees a mysterious hooded figure in the bathroom mirror. From that day, his life will never be the same.
Benny is implicated in a series of deaths and strange occurrences around his work and life. Benny knows it is the creature in the mirror, but to everyone else all evidence points to Benny. Lord Lawrence believes Benny and Trudy are actually Aldred and Catelin reborn; another chance for him to collect Aldred (Benny’s soul) and reclaim Catelin (Trudy) as his own. Now Benny and Trudy must navigate around this fantasy world asylum to figure out how to save their souls, or lose them in the process.
Claim Denied by G.R. Jerry is slow to begin, but as readers get into the heart of the story it really picks up and becomes hard to put down. Author Jerry takes the typical atmosphere of the horror genre and builds it into a page-turner of a novel. As the story progresses the tension builds and readers will find their hearts pumping as they rush to find out which way the story will go next. The author provides the audience with a main character you want to kind of hate, but end up feeling for as the tale progresses. Readers will want to believe he is the John everyman that is easily forgettable, but soon come to realize that he is very memorable and sits in the back of your head like an annoying song; which is a fantastic character to have created.
This is a novel that is unexpected in that readers aren’t sure how to feel about the characters and storyline in the beginning, but soon come to love every bit of it. There is a lot of information to build up the characters and their motives, but it is the build up that leaves readers wanting more at the end of Jerry’s tale. One can tell there is a lot beyond the surface of this novel and will want to delve further into the mind of G.R. Jerry. The characters keep readers invested, the story progresses at a nice pace and readers will close the book feeling very satisfied.
G.R. Jerry’s Claim Denied is the perfect novel for horror and fantasy lovers. He draws the readers in with a mysterious entity and holds their attention throughout the story. While the genre is horror, it is not filled with explicit horror aspects and is the perfect way for a reader to dip their toes into the genre. It is not the gory type of horror, but one that creeps up the spine of your back and lingers in the base of your skull. Claim Denied is a book that leaves you wanting more.
