A Father’s Love: Justice and Forgiveness is a taut thriller laced with just the right amounts of grace, and a sequel to Father’s Love: Faith and Family. The text can be read as a standalone, and new readers will have no trouble melding with the characters within.
Here, readers follow Reid, the youngest son of Travis, a retired federal marshal who after completing his law studies, married an Indian girl, Chipeta, who had been brutally assaulted by some male students, and which had dire consequences. When Reid gets a job as an undercover mercenary at the Department of Justice, he is soon plunged into the dark labyrinth of organized crime and human trafficking that puts his life, Chipeta’s, and that of his family at risk.
While Reid is away, Chipeta tries to adjust to her new surroundings against the backdrop of bigotry and racism in Ried’s hometown. Her inner turmoil is one that her faith grapples to assuage. Her struggles and fledgling romance with Reid, which blossoms much later, are beautiful, touching, and stirring, even under their circumstances.
The book treats faith and family as their fundamental components even as Reid, the key protagonist, struggles to seek God in every situation he faces and keep his faith in God steadfast. Together, the well-fleshed-out characters intertwine in the plotline to unfurl an explosive tale of treachery, violence, death, grief, romance, purpose, courage, and forgiveness.
Author Jean Defreese Moore has written an enrapturing novel that brews literary art, with the right amounts of action, sage wisdom, and useful supernatural elements. With equal parts faith and thrilling clean-action, this book will plunge you into an euphoric world of peril while your soul is gently being transformed. His knowledge of the scriptures is the masterstroke of this text as he seamlessly infuses these along the chapters. The novel trades focus between Reid and Chipeta although it sometimes shifts focuses on secondary characters such as Reid’s family members.
The author addresses complex issues wisely and intimately making it a perfect candidate for modern-day literature. Altogether, A Father’s Love: Justice and Forgiveness by Jean Defreese Moore paints the perfect picture of a thriller with a religious panache. Fans of Christian fiction will enjoy moving with this author, in tandem, to the ultimate ending, redemption. A beautiful book indeed!
