Many people struggle with pursuing their passions and fitting in with their culture or society.  Hassan is no different, he is a Pakistani-American trying to make his way in the world.  He is unemployed and on the verge of eviction.  But then the mysterious Yasmine enters his life.  She bar hops, and has a keen interest in psychology, as Hassan in completely enthralled with her.  Quickly he learns there are secrets within Yasmine’s past; secrets that put both of their lives in danger.  As New Year’s Eve unravels, Hassan discovers the magic of the world including portals, trolls and enemies he could never imagine.  Will he be able to survive and see New Year’s Day?  Or will Yasmine’s past devour them both?

Ice Dance is a novel which will keep its audience’s attention and leave them craving more from author Vik Azeem, but will also make them want to share it with friends and family.  It is a novel that is difficult to put down and readers will find themselves potentially finishing it in one sitting.  It’s that good.  The banter between the characters can be humorous at times and makes for characters which readers are eager to know more about, eager to follow along.  He gives you characters that feel genuine and sincere; ones you will remember long after reading the novel.

Azeem provides readers with a character anyone can relate to, a man down on his luck trying to find his place while honoring his true self.  It is an entertaining novel that moves along gracefully rather than feeling as if it reads choppy or disjointed.  It has a smooth easy flow that enables readers to escape their own reality and become engrossed in the world he has created.  The author has the master ability to paint such a vivid scene that readers will feel as if they are standing on the sidelines watching as the events play themselves out.

There is not a lot in Ice Dance that would be inappropriate for younger readers as well, so readers of all ages could read, appreciate, and love Vik Azeem’s work.  Fans of Paranormal Fantasy and Urban Fantasy would highly enjoy reading this novel.  Ice Dance and is a book that needs to be on everyone’s shelf.  It is a great novel; fans will be anticipating the next novel from this rising author.
