Diving into the human effervesce, She So Loved the World… is a collection of poems which analyze themes in different catagories such as faith, love, loss, spirituality, and introspection.

Some entries are long and richly detailed with information such as Bob’s Lake and The Wisdom Tree, Hoss, and others are deeply voyeuristic with just a few lines such as The Walk and Red Rose. Numerous times, Dean Powers explores the standard metrical and

poetic approach. In Red Rose, for example, the poet displays impeccable imagery. For example, words like “Pictures of roses, decorate the heads of the robotic hydrants. That fills thousands of machines, which drive about the landscape. Like torrents of locus feed on a fertile plain” express a genuine flair of originality and grace.

Elsewhere, meaning accrues through pithy enjambment that develops a stirring sequence through the tempo. Others like Felicity (1934) appear to be powerful and poignant anecdotes while others like Luke and Grace come across as pensive soliloquies that culminate into such captivating catharsis. The juxtaposition of emotions is equally visible in these entries. For example, in poems such as Bob’s Lake and the walk, sadness surrounds the words while in others such as Condo Tower Band, joy permeates others.

This variation creates a deep dive into the genuine reality that challenges and guides. The writer’s fine brush strokes utilize familiar objects, scenes, opinions, and perspectives deftly handling ordinary life’s struggles and triumphs. The anthology is divided into three parts bearing topics that are proposed by their titles. Together, this anthology works to demonstrate the poet’s finesse and adroitness in his craft.

Most of these poems scream to be read out loud, to be liberated from the reader’s mouth while others declare wistful silence over them as the narration is done in silence giving ample time to ponder on the subject herein. Ultimately, She So Loved The WorldBook 1 by Dean Powers is a standout in its genre from a remarkably instinctive poet.
