Seed of Simon is a riveting and illuminating Christian work of fiction penned by Michael Goings. The novel chronicles the life of Rafael Rufus Smith, who begins having recurring dreams about Jesus Christ on His way to His crucifixion and Simon of Cyrene, the man compelled by the Romans to carry the cross of Jesus on this journey. Rafael had not set foot in a church for years and Bible stories were just stories which barely left much impact on him.
When he donates blood at Nazareth Hospital that miraculously heals a cancer patient, Rafael is forced to hide away from the public, relentless press, and drug companies to avoid exploitation. He later learns he is a descendant of Simon of Cyrene and he could use his unique blood composition to heal those afflicted with diseases. At around the same time, five students from a suburb in Philadelphia are kidnapped and Rafael believes there is a way he may succeed in rescuing their lives from an occult Halloween practice.
Michael Goings has accomplished something beautiful here; its timely and timeless message is not only inspirational, but provides a moral compass for many generations to come. The book does not tally in its progress but boldly introduces readers to the main protagonist whose courage and compassion are not only admirable but appreciable as well. I found the book to be very entertaining with rich nuances along the way. Goings’ prose is clear and offers original views on complex themes using evocative imagery and fresh twists and turns.
This is a tale of triumph, faith, hope, and humanity. Here, Biblical characters come to life and merge with modern-day characters creating an arresting plotline that does more than just edify. Through the main character’s journey of faith, readers will inevitably experience the significance of Christ’s crucifixion in their lives and those of others.
Seed of Simon by Michael Goings is a beautiful winner that will resonate deeply with readers as it did with me. Good work ~ author Goings!
