About the Author

Bruce Barsanti, who died in December 2009, was a man full of smarts, creativity and imagination, with a huge interest in World War II. A former cop who became an actor, he graduated from DePaul University’s Acting Conservatory, and worked in Chicago theatre, film, television, and for many live events.

Bruce began researching “A Civil Man” in 2006, by reading about World War II troop movements, the OSS, weaponry and history. Since Bruce grew up in River Forest, a neighborhood known for its “gangster” population, he had an inside track on that world.

Bruce’s ear for dialogue, his understanding of character, and his love of a complicated plot are all expressed in “A Civil Man”. He worked on this book for two years, using his wife, Trish Elliott, as his editor.
