Sergeant Hanluc, and the Missing Students by DSJEN Hanluc is an engrossing story of a police officer whose decades-long worry for an unresolved missing children’s case ends from an unexpected discovery.

Policeman Sergeant Hanluc, whose office faces the expansive Bamboo Bay, receives an unexpected request from the new Commissioner of Police, Commissioner Henry to join him for an early lunch. Forty-five years after moving to Jamaica from New York, Hanluc has climbed through the ranks and earned the respect of the locals. During the meal, which is attended by three new women and a few officers, Commissioner Henry gives Hanluc so much praise for his contribution to the people of Bamboo Bay that he is rendered speechless. However, when he mentions a 43-year-old tragedy in Bamboo Bay that left several children injured and others missing, there is an eerie calm in the air as everyone takes a moment to listen.

Sergeant Hanluc, on the other hand, begins to feel upset, wondering why Henry would dare to bring up a past memory, imprinted deep in his consciousness that has for decades denied him sleep and lasting peace of mind. However, as Henry presses for more information about the case, Hanluc is taken aback by the three women’s startling admission, which leads him to realize that he is witnessing the most dramatic development in his entire police career—one that will not only put an end to a missing children’s case but will also aid in his recovery from a deep-seated trauma.

This is a simple, very intriguing, and profoundly provocative narrative. It follows a protagonist whose life looks to be happy and fulfilling, but who has a deeply traumatized mind. Before abruptly shifting and offering a fresh rush of excitement as it goes along, the novel’s first few chapters take the reader on a lovely family excursion. In the midst of a journey filled with faith, the author deftly crafts an exhilarating and profoundly inspirational finale while conveying the complexities of untamed anger and unaddressed depression.

In addition to being an eye-opener and a thriller for readers of all ages, Hanluc’s recently released novel Sergeant Hanluc, and the Missing Students shows how important prayer, generosity, honesty, and commitment to others are. Furthermore, it serves as a reminder that, while everyone is susceptible to trauma, identifying and addressing it as soon as possible is vital to one’s own and others’ well-being.
