Author James Ellison’s fictitious novel Faithful Fugitives tells the story of a profoundly significant future event that the Bible foretells which will affect everyone on the planet. In an approachable yet poignant manner, it also seeks to depict the feelings and chaos of an impending religious prejudice upheaval.
The State of the Union Address by President O’Donnell completely upended the lives of Mike, Rachael, and Jason. Up until the president announced his intention to introduce a tracking computer device in the shape of a unity armband on every citizen, life was predictable. By uniting all churches under a single ideology and enforcing their cooperation with Sunday service, he sought to foster spiritual unity. His administration thought that once in place, crime would plummet dramatically.
As the patriarch of the family, Mike carefully considered the end time war predicted in the book of Revelation and questioned whether the president had any part in bringing it about. Even though he supported church unity, he was concerned some religious groups could experience difficulties as a result of the churches joining together under one large roof and that this would be a harsh and oppressive way to practice superficial Christianity. To his shock, the president threw down the gauntlet for individuals who were not part of the religious alliance and for those who were deemed to be of no religion. Given that he was a member of the SDA church, he knew that this was a recipe for catastrophe. He pondered how they would fit into the new church decision to unite as a single congregation with a shared day of worship.
This narrative portrays a rapidly evolving society that is rife with uncertainty on constitutional deductions based on the separation of church and state. In keeping with the biblical sequence of events, it deftly immerses the reader in a highly misunderstood and seemingly complex future event. The main characters are purposefully picked and positioned in a time period that puts their faith to the test and tackles their greatest fears, all as they adjust to unexpected happenings. As the narrative thickens and introduces more difficult situations and times supported by the nation’s highest authority, their tenacity, fortitude, and solutions shine out.
From every perspective, Family Fugitives by James Ellison is remarkable, especially for its superb style, extensive array of heart-pounding scenarios, and thought-provoking quandaries. It keeps the readers’ emotions running high as time ebbs away, without giving away the finale. It ultimately succeeds in bringing up the question of whether one should reject or stand up for one’s religion and values when threatened.
This book is strongly suggested for any reader who wants to be inspired to study more about the Bible and its prophecies, and have their convictions rekindled.
