A Law from Eden is a thought-provoking text about God and interpretations about life since Adam and Eve. Marilyn Taplin has written a book that will spark conversation among readers.

A Law from Eden takes an in-depth look at the Bible and specific interpretations of the Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. She believes that the original sin of Eve eating the forbidden fruit led to sin overtaking the world. Taplin also asserts that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah has led to trouble in the world. She writes about the evangelical Christian belief that only heterosexual sex in marriage is the approved way to express sexuality. Taplin also writes about how important it is to follow the Ten Commandments in order to live a fulfilling life.

A Law from Eden has detailed descriptions of Biblical stories and Bible verses that support her theories about the Bible. She has Bible verses that support her extolling high virtues in Biblical figures like David: “I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.” She also writes about the need that people need to be sober and watchful in what she perceives in what she perceives as the last days of the world when she quotes Peter: “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”

Taplin’s writing is very dedicated to her interpretation of the Bible. The text also has tables to illustrate the difference between Biblical verses that espouse traditional values and the modern interpretations of the Bible from some Christian denominations that conflict with her beliefs. She also writes in great detail about each commandment and how the Ten Commandments should be obeyed in everyday life.

This book would be best for readers who are evangelical Christians who believe in the Bible literally. The book is very conservative, so readers who are LGBTQ or have more liberal interpretations of the Bible may disagree with the tenets of the book. Even readers who may disagree with Taplin’s beliefs will learn a lot about Biblical teachings. Even though Taplin has conservative views about homosexuality, she still espouses God’s open minded attitude of love towards everyone. The book can be read in church groups or even in secular books group that want to have a debate about religion.

A Law from Eden is a book that will spark discussion. Taplin has written a book that will show new understandings of the best-selling book in the world.
