One of life’s greatest pursuits for anyone is the journey to find love. Love is the life-force for so many people. While every person is different, and for some romance is not an important factor in their lives, for many the need to find that one special person who just fits them wholly and completely is the noble cause which we silently undertake. Love can come in many shapes and sizes, and often will sneak up on us when we least expect it, but in order to find that special person there is often a long and winding road filled with speed bumps and experiences which make us who we are meant to be.
In author Myron Lee’s Am I the Only One Crazy?: One Man’s Quest to Find True Love, the author explores the journey to find love through their own personal life experiences. From his first relationship as an adolescent which ends in heartbreak, to the teenage romances that would define his life moving forward, the author shares a lifetime of pursuits and heartbreaks as the hopeless romantic in him seeks to find that one special woman who completes him.
The author did an incredible job of capturing the whirlwind of emotions romance and romantic journeys can often take. The writing style immediately jumped off of the page, as it not only highlighted an almost cinematic and fiction-style of writing that made the author’s life experiences feel more alive on the page, but also showed the authors engaging command over the “show versus tell” style of writing, allowing the readers to see the imagery and atmosphere he was creating rather than having it spelled out for them. The notes of hope in the midst of heartbreak and failed relationships highlighted the balance that life often brings us, whether we ask for it or not, and how these experiences, both good and negative, can impact us and make us all the stronger due to them.
This is the perfect read for those who enjoy romantic stories, especially those which take on a non-fiction tale and infuse faith-based viewpoints and experiences. I found the author’s hopeless romantic view something I could relate to, and felt the raw emotions and struggles the author endured as the desire to love and be loved grew within him. The importance the author’s experiences showcase to the reader, that love comes to people at the stage in their life which they are meant to find it, and not when it is planned, was profoundly felt throughout this book.
Captivating, hopeful, and emotional, author Myron Lee’s Am I the Only One Crazy?: One Man’s Quest to Find True Love is a must-read non-fiction romance story readers will not want to put down, especially those driven to relationships that infuse their love of faith with their love of that one special person in their lives. The heartbreak, tragedy, and lifetime of experiences is well-balanced by the notes of hope, inspiration, and ultimately love that he finds as his story comes full-circle.
