Author Dil R. Banu first started by defining what prophecy is. I was impressed with her detailed explanation as it made me have a deeper understanding of the definition and why God’s people are referred to as prophets. There are so many people who claim to be prophets in today’s world. This can be confusing to believers who follow anyone who proclaims the word. The author further expounded on the subject of false prophesy with a Bible verse (Duet 18:21-22). Through that verse, we learn the true prophets make correct prophesies, but it is God who inspires them. False prophets, on the other hand, rely on their imagination, making them fail most of the times.

Dil R. Banu’s intent when writing Anna Asked Was Muhammad a Prophet was to show the link between Muhammad and the prophets in the Bible. Christianity and Islam may operate on a different basis, but the fact remains that there are some fundamental beliefs in both the Quran and the Bible which link the two. This is what the author wants everyone to understand. Anna Asked Was Muhammad a Prophet is a religious book which helps even the unobservant and least interested readers know more about religion and Prophet Muhammad. It is amazing how the author broke everything down. I learned much about Islam teachings vis-a-vis the Christian gospel by the end of my read.

One of the most fascinating parts in the book was when the author explained the relation between Muhammad, Jesus, and Moses. Contrary to popular belief, Muhammad was not like Jesus. He was more like Moses. This is because Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, in a miraculous way. Both Moses and Muhammad, however, were born to a married couple. The two later got married and had their own offspring. The next comparison between Moses and Muhammad versus Jesus was that the two were accepted, obeyed, and respected by most of their people as the true messengers of God in their own lifetime. This was not the case with Jesus. Jews rejected Jesus and his mission and even claimed that he was not the true Messiah. Dil R. Banu’s discussion of the three brought about a lot of clarity to this history. At the end of the day, I was able to tell the three apart and noted the roles they played.

Reading Anna Asked Was Muhammad a Prophet gave me the impression of going through the Bible and the Quran simultaneously. The author did a fantastic job by writing this book as it helped me have a better understanding of the two books. Dil R. Banu’s book is nothing short of informative. The author is engaging too and wrote from an informed point of view. Other than her way of explaining things, I have to mention the author’s choice of words was another thing that made this book easy to read. The language used is simple, with the exception of a few technical words which are well outlined in the text. This book is ideal for a wide range of reading audiences from early adult on up, and of virtually any faith, with any degree of religious background.
