Author Interview Fred L. Fox
Today we are talking with author Fred L. Fox about his new book titled: To Tell the Truth: Ethics Unwrapped.
PBR: What was the primary event or period in your past which brought you so deeply into the ethics/morality written about in your book?
The primary event was a Peak Experience in 1993, a true enlightenment during which I learned The Truth (see A. Maslow). This solidified my interest that began with my MBA thesis in the late ’60s.
PBR: There is a large overlap with the “truth” and “philosophy,” how do you define the partition of these two concepts?
TRUTH is an absolute–there is no substitute. PHILOSOPHY is a basic study of truth. IT is also the mother of science and metaphysics.
PBR: Have you always been interested in the great philosophers in history? And secondly, who would you consider to be the best contemporary thinker(s) alive nowadays?
I THINK THERE IS TOO MUCH EMPHASIS PLACED ON THE “GREAT PHILOSOPHERS OF HISTORY”. Philosophy should be a do-it-yourself endeavor. THINK FOR YOURSELF. You have the same brain as the greats. Use it.
PBR: If you could change one facet of human nature, which would you choose to change and how would you change it?
TRUST. It can only be changed by the individual and must be deserved. It requires honesty. I can’t solve that one except to encourage others.
PBR: What was your most challenging part of writing your book?
Finishing it. It took a lot of years.
PBR: Are you currently writing another book, and if so, what is the topic?
Yes. It is a biography of a friend. Very challenging. I am a man of few words. I try to make them count.
