L.M. Haynes – Author Interview
Today we are talking to L.M. Haynes for the title “The Magical Christmas Tree.”
PBR: The town of Castle Falls in Vermont is a beautiful place – what were some of the considerations you had when you chose this location to your story?
The town of Castle Falls is fictitious. It is a combination of every Norman Rockwell painting I have ever seen and every Thomas Kinkade painting I have ever seen. A small New England town and the Christmas season are synonymous to me.
PBR: Are all of the people real or fictious?
The people in this book are fictitious, but as with all of the people in my books, they are inspired by all of the wonderful people I have known.
PBR: How would you describe the power of the glowing aura of the tree?
For me the glowing aura of the tree represents God’s love and presence in all of our lives.
PBR: Your illustration are very artistically drawn – what types of other artwork do you do?
None. I have been drawing since I was a child, and the only type of drawings that have interested me is working with colored pencils.
PBR: People often underestimate the creativity which goes into the illustrated children’s book genre. What are some of your goals when setting on a course to write your books?
My primary goal when I set out on the path four years ago was to try to influence children’s lives in a positive way. It is very important for parents to take the time to read to their children and equally important that those books to have a positive, uplifting message.
PBR: What is your next book?
“Legacies.” It is near completion of publishing and should be available within a couple of months.
