About the Author
Bill Pelham is a native Houstonian and competed in both high school and college before turning professional. After leaving the University of Texas, he became an assistant professional at Champions Golf Club (1971–1976) under the tutelage of Jack Burke, Jimmy Demaret, Jay Hebert, and Jimmy Burke. After leaving Champions to pursue his lifelong dream of playing the PGA Tour, Bill played over one hundred events during a six-year period. He competed in five major championships during his career, including two US Open Championships, two British Open Championships, and a PGA Championship. He is now living with his wife, Betsey, and retired from competitive golf. Bill has written two stories, one each for Chicken Soup for the Golfer’s Soul and Chicken Soup for the Golfer’s Soul Two: A Second Helping. The Open honors his father and his quest to make the cut in the US Open, and Arnie’s Army pays tribute to his childhood hero, Arnold Palmer.
