Synopsis
Kira Logan, an artist from Arizona, is hired to travel to New Mexico to create bronze sculptures of the two founding doctors of the local hospital. The doctor’s descendants, the Medfords, wish to honor the men with their statues on the hospital grounds.
Before leaving her home, Kira receives a threatening letter cautioning her to not accept the project. She ignores the warning.
The story is punctuated by various efforts to damage Kira’s work at the foundry and injure or destroy her. Actively working against her are the Medford children and a woman seeking revenge for a dishonor she believes was done to her family.
Several people are killed in the grim struggle to stop her. It is only after she has met and dealt with multiple dangerous situations, that those responsible for the continuing vandalism are thwarted.
