Synopsis
My Flipping Yaya is told through the eyes of a young child named Zuri, who is fascinated with her grandmother, who she calls Yaya, being able to flip. She is captivated with the way Yaya tumbles at home and at work. Zuri wants to do all the things her Yaya does and she tries really hard. Even though she doesn’t get it quite right, her Yaya always encourages her to never give up.
About the Author
Yonce Daniels lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. She started gymnastics at the age of five in Tallahassee, Florida. She attended Florida A&M University High School and received a full ride gymnastics scholarship to the University of Iowa. She toured professionally, with Kurt Thomas Gymnastics America.She opened Gym Express( the first female African American owned gymnastics school) training preschool through elite level gymnasts. Yonce is the gymnastics coordinator and head coach for the Mason Twisters. Shes a certified personal trainer and aeriel yoga teacher. Yonce is married to Daryl Daniels and the mother of two – Daronce Malik and Daryl Myntia (illustrator).
