Motivational speaker Denis Waitley once said, “As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.” In author Henri T. De Souza’s novel Chronicles of Oerpia: The Fellowship and the Dark Lord, a brand new fantasy realm comes to life and brings a new mythology and new heroes along with it, all in the pursuit of destiny.
In this book, the author brings to life a fantastic new mythology involving a classic battle of good versus evil, light versus darkness, and siblings who find themselves on a grand adventure while caught in the midst of a great battle and prophecy. Bringing a mythology that readers may recognize as mirroring something from our own three worlds; the world of men, the world of light and the world of darkness, all come crashing together as the leader of the Dark Realm uses a sorceress and an evil Dark Lord to cause havoc and destruction to prevent a prophecy from being realized.
This book is incredibly well written, having built a brand new mythology which brings this fantasy world to life in a large and credible way. From the book’s first pages the reader instantly feels pulled into this realm of Oerpia, watching as children are given a destiny and must face forces beyond their comprehension to become the heroes the world needs. The sheer attention to detail is what makes this novel stand out, bringing not only new worlds and realms, but new creatures, languages and names to life that really highlights the fantasy genre.
This is definitely a novel meant for anyone interested in fantasy genre of books, and enjoys getting lost in new mythologies and legends in the fantasy realm, much like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. However what really stood out amongst the fantasy genre settings was the author’s ability to create new creatures and beings to focus upon, rather than adapting other already known fantasy creatures. As a fantasy fan myself, it was easy to get lost in this new world and become invested in both the story and the characters inhabiting these new realms.
This is a fantasy novel that any fan of the genre can get behind. The first in this new series, the story opens up a world of possibilities that could delve deeper and deeper into this emerging mythology the author has built. Filled with action, drama and amazing character development, this is the perfect beginning novel in a fantasy series, and should not be missed.
