Poetry is such an interesting art form because it is often subjective and always personal. No matter the subject, poetry seems to come from the deepest part of the writer’s being, and that is glaringly obvious in Hosain Mosavat’s collection of work titled Come…Sit in My Heart. While every poem is different, there are a couple of recurring themes which seem to frame his work.
The poems are wildly different in length with some taking up a full page (no more) and others being only a few lines. It is evident from his writing that Mosavat has an affinity for roses as many of his poems are about the flower both physically and in a metaphoric sense. Mosavat is clearly a very romantic man with a great physical and emotional love for his wife which clearly exudes from all of his works.
You will find that some poems are only a few lines long and their meanings may not be entirely clear and there is no rhyme or reason to the way that this book is laid out. Other poems are so profoundly deep that they will make you stop reading to absorb the words. Come…Sit in My Heart is not a long book, but that is fine because it is the kind of book that you will want to read many times over to understand and enjoy the meaning behind the author’s words truly.
Come…Sit in My Heart is ideal for those who appreciate poetry, and especially poetry about the many facets of love. All readers are sure to find at least a few passages they can resonate with. Mosavat’s ability to communicate profound feelings of love and subtle ideas of lust will resonate with readers on a deeper level. If you are not a hopeless romantic before reading this book, you may find it hard not to be after. A beautiful and intuitively written collection of poems, Come…Sit in My Heart will not only challenge you, but also inspire and captivate.
