The first line at the beginning of this spiritual exposition is, “This book is for all who desire peace.” The remainder of the book is the author’s detailed explication of how to make that happen. The path to peace begins, per author Rubin Perry, with an acceptance and understanding that the source of spiritual peace is divine and comes through a covenant relationship with God. Man creates a relationship with God by first believing in Jesus Christ and secondly following His instructions on how to “receive divine peace into our human spirit.” Jesus Christ is the conduit through which mankind can reconcile its rightful place with God.
This book covers a lot of ground. There are chapters on human anatomy and the interconnectedness between the corporeal and the human spirit and soul, with explanations on how the human part of each person is transformed through the divine life force. Subsequent chapters detail the Divine Preparation Process defined through, not just words, but diagrams colorfully highlighting the integration of divine designs and creative plans in the spiritual and physical attributes of mankind. Following that, the author describes the attributes of the human spirit and soul which leads to a discourse on how the spirit, soul and body interact with each other.
All of this lays the groundwork for the reader to embrace a tenet of this book that, “We have the responsibility while we are on earth to become a co-creator with Jesus Christ of our own divine design. In order to dwell in the new heaven and new earth that are to come, we must be filled with Divine Peace, Divine Truth and Divine Righteousness.”
Rubin Perry leaves us, at the conclusion of this book, with hopefulness that all three are not just possible but eternal in scope. That it’s a wondrous journey each of us will take, returning us back to God as a completely new creation. Designed to Become Divine: The Role of Peace is an impassioned call to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is not, however, sanctimonious in tone. Scripture is used for emphasis and to underscore specific statements and to support the author’s beliefs. Mr. Perry’s writing is sincere and forthright. There is little question that he has spent considerable time researching and gaining insight into the concept of divine peace.
The take-away for me was this, “If you seek peace in your life, it must start with you.” Isn’t that always the case when it comes to personal growth? This book is a perfect place to begin your journey.
