In almost every walk of life, the best thing one can do to improve themselves is to learn from someone else. There may be no place where this is more evident than the business world. Disruption Games is a fantastic book that is full of helpful information and insight for industry professionals and budding entrepreneurs.
There is no getting around the fact this book is a bit dry, however that is par for the course. It’s challenging to make a book about business start-ups exhilarating. Still, Trond Arne Undheim does a great job using industry insight and anecdotal experience to keep an otherwise dull subject interesting. There is a lot of information to unpack in this book, and every chapter is full of excellent information for entrepreneurs.
What I like even more about this book than my first read-through is that I can come back to it for reference. Each chapter ends with key takeaways and insights to remind you of what you read and how to implement it in your entrepreneurial journey. The book also gives a lot of insight into MIT, thanks to Undheim’s intimate experience with the institute. Even if you are not interested in entrepreneurship or starting a venture, you will walk away from reading this, with confidence feeling as if you are prepared to start your own company.
Disruption Games is written in a way which you would expect from a MIT professor. It is professional in every way, and the grammar and structure are flawless. I’m sure that Mr. Undheim could have used many large words, but the vocabulary is easily understood, and the tone is conversational. He mentions in the book that he may have other publications on the way, and I am more than interested to read those too.
This may be one of my favorite business books I have ever read. There is so much to learn from this book that it should probably be read a few times to absorb everything it has to say. I know that I will be rereading Disruption Games the next time I even think about starting or joining a new venture.
