3…2…1…Blast Off! So begins this sci-fi adventure story titled Exploring Planet VIDA by a very creative author David Ellis Grey.
Upon a successful space shuttle launch, the ship is knocked off course by space debris, and left helplessly wandering through space – when the astronauts see a far-away planet resembling Earth, only difference noticing the ocean waters and land formations
are spiraled making all land and water connected. They decide to attempt a landing, and in doing so, their space ship is damaged beyond repair. Upon exiting the shuttle to explore this planet, the crew first realizes the air is breathable and they can remove their helmets; then more astonishing discoveries are made. There are people resembling humans, only difference they all have blue hair. There are cities like on Earth, but without pollution using only solar and wind power. Animals such as dogs and cats are humanely treated, no animals are eaten, as diets only consist of plants. And most impressively, the world is at rest with peace, respect and kindness.
The Earthlings learned much from the VIDA people, as they exchanged ideas and technology. The VIDA inhabitants did not have cell phones or computers – imagine that! However, after months of teamwork, the astronauts were able to repair their broken space shuttle, and lift off from VIDA to return to Earth.
David Ellis Grey narrates an incredibly creative story, implementing an abundance of illustrations showing the details of this adventure story which will undoubtably captivate the imaginations of all youngsters. With themes of eco-friendly technologies, cooperation amongst all of the inhabitants, a welcoming to the two planet’s people, and most importantly the celebration of the differences between Earth and VIDA, children will see just how close we are on Earth to achieving the successes of this far-away planet.
Yes, there are all types of things out in space which we know nothing about, and exploration is key in finding out the answers to many questions. Exploring Planet VIDA is a good start for young minds to form the foundation of discovery in our future, as they have inherited the dreams and passions of explorers from history and will shape the destiny of humanity. Exploring Planet VIDA, with its artful imagery in the illustrations, and the very action-packed storyline of the adventures of these brave astronauts, will make this be a book grabbed for by kids at bedtime, or anytime, to revisit planet VIDA over and over again.
