The authors really did an incredible job of crafting a well-rounded and engaging narrative. The choice to open with the protagonist facing the FBI raid, only to jump backwards to see Newman’s rise as a businessman and the many ups and downs he face in both his personal and professional life made this story feel honest yet entertaining. The imagery and tone the author captured made me feel as if the opening chapter was playing out in my mind’s eye like an old 70’s montage film, with funk and soul music in the soundtrack as shots of the lavish lifestyle the protagonist enjoyed played out visually across the screen. The attention to detail the authors have for the business side of the narrative and the captivating cast of characters make this story shine so brightly.
This is the perfect book for those who enjoy crime thrillers, especially those that blend humorous interactions and financial thriller narratives into the fabric of the book. The vibrancy of the protagonist and his charm melded perfectly with the shocking narrative and the powerful settings that took readers through the decades seamlessly.
