Robert J. Shiller once said, “Finance is not merely about making money. It’s about achieving our deep goals and protecting the fruits of our labor. It’s about stewardship and, therefore, about achieving the good society.” In author Yury G. Geltser’s book “Fundamentals of Predictable Economy: Economy from the Standpoint of General System Theory” (translated from Russian Edition and including new additional material in US Edition), readers get an in-depth exploration of the economy and the system that guides it.
The author explores the system that guides the economy and the cycle (between 20-25 years according to author’s research) that affects the global economy and the world at large. Predicting a global crisis in 2014, what really interested me was the way the author related the findings of his research and knowledge of finances in general with the global effects of Russia and it’s invasion of Crimea. Since then we’ve seen a great many conflicts and scandals/possible crimes committed either by Russia and it’s agents on a global scale or by others in other countries working with the nation’s government. The author’s research, while dealing greatly with finances as a whole, actually managed to get me thinking about global events and how things like the financial system of the world can impact world events.
The author writes with an unimaginable and vast knowledge of the economy and financial systems of the world. Having dug deep into researching these systems (structure, elements, philosophy, etc.), the author presents the findings of his research eloquently and in a straightforward manner that speaks to the topic overall. This is definitely a book meant for anyone interested in the financial system overall. Anyone who enjoys looking at the economy and what affects its (and what it affects) in our world will absolutely love diving head first into this book.
I found this book interesting to get a glimpse into just how detailed and involved the study of the economy can be. For those of us who don’t get involved in the economic structure of the world and don’t study the intricate details that make up the economy overall, it was fascinating to see the author not only look into the various systems that make the economy up, but the global impact the economy has and the cycle of global upheaval that occurs in our world.
Overall this is a must have book for anyone interested in the financial system. It was well researched, written, translated and explored for those who study and take an interest in the global economic system. If you haven’t yet be sure to grab your copy today.
