When everything seems to be going wrong, Ryan Trussell is uprooted and moved. Things didn’t seem like they could get worse. While Ryan longs to fit in, he finds he has at least one person can rely on, one who cannot speak, but listens to him. As things continue to spiral downhill and look more and more depressing, Ryan meets a new friend who reveals things at home are not as they seem. What ensues is a roller coaster of emotions and antics which will have you conscious of what goes on in your own home, and wondering if the sounds you hear are more than just general house noises.
Ghost Writer is a book which drags readers into the story line straight from the prologue. Readers are drawn into the story and already know that something isn’t right. I admire R. Wesley Clement’s writing style, as it is vividly to the point. Meaning there is not a lot of filler words or unnecessary information. There is not a moment when the reader wonders what something has to do with the story, but gets the “oh this is going to be something” feeling instead. The author shows the reader what is happening – rather than simply telling.
Wesley Clement masterfully crafts a work of fiction filled with mystery and intrigue. The reader cannot predict what will happen next nor where or how the tale will progress. It is so easy for the reader to become invested in the character development and interaction as one really feels for Ryan. One can get lost in this novel and lose all sense of time. Clement definitely provides a story almost impossible to put down, and will stick with you once the tale has ended.
This is a book anyone would enjoy – regardless of a preferred genre. It incorporates so many different literary elements that it becomes a book people will recommend to friends and family. It is evident that R. Wesley Clement is a master at storytelling and can quickly become a best-selling author. This book deserves a resounding “Notable Book” rating due to the edge-of-your-seat storytelling, expert character development, and overall pleasurable reading experience.
