Understanding that we are all of God’s children seems to be something everyone needs a constant reminder of. We love, trust, encourage, support, respect, others, or at least for the most part, but there is so much more to life than that. The real question we must all ask ourselves, am I leading a life that God can be proud of me for? In God Moments: Lingering Long in the Cool of God’s Shadow, author David M. Cornell breaks down the fundamentals of living a righteous life and how we should all take more responsibility than we do. The term “God Moments” is best described as, “ordinary moments God uses to teach us to love with our minds and heart, learn how to forgive, to have faith and to be responsible. Those four things, love, forgiveness, faith, and responsibility are the blueprint to becoming a better human being and walking alongside God. As a reader, you’ll receive a complete walkthrough of how to change your life around so that it will benefit you, others around you, and building your relationship with your creator. Thinking of this book as a guideline on life or some sort of lost manual can really help change the world as a whole. While reading, you’ll soon discover that no matter what others say, feel, or have an opinion about you, none of that really matters.
Forgiveness was an initial topic discussed because it is true, we’re quick to give forgiveness, but not so much as accept, why is that? Giving forgiveness to others enables us to feel good about ourselves, while at the same time feeling as if we don’t deserve to be forgiven. Author David M. Cornell made sure to point this out as something that’s done too often. It’s fascinating to read how one can change their views, guiding them to becoming the person they’re meant to be, through all Godly acts by starting with self. This journey to walk alongside God seems less stressful and freer to be your true self. By loving each other, accepting faults and failures, putting faith into your own growth, ignoring naysayers, forgive and let go, just adds a level of peace that anyone would be jealous of. You get a sense of relief in knowing that God’s opinion of you is the only opinion that matters in the end, as you’re reading each page. At one point, I’ve felt nothing but positive energy because knowing that information proves that no matter our race, creed, gender, tax bracket, amount of accomplishments, or having every materialistic thing to your heart’s content, no one is better than the next person. Anyone reading this book would feel a weight lifting off their shoulders because they have time to improve themselves by starting now. God loves you regardless but still wants you to return His love to Him.
I found myself fully immersed into reading this book as I gained some clarity on how to get on God’s good graces and staying that way. A new level of understanding, allowing me to work on myself only motivates me even more. When mentioning about forgiving people, in particular, family, it truly hit close to home because that is something I struggle with. I have to open up my mind and heart, as instructed in this book, to forgive and let go of all hurt in the past. It’s a blessing to have the opportunity to read this book and take away a lot that I’ve learned, that I will, of course, apply to my life. I highly recommend and encourage this book to everyone because everyone deserves to heal; building a relationship with God is the only way things will work out in our favor for as long as we’re gifted a life on Earth.
