As the world turns and new discoveries and new leadership within various religions begin to sprout, the risk of human ignorance and the need for others to amass power becomes more and more of a risk. Religious leaders are generally thought to be someone the rest of a faith’s followers can trust wholly and completely, and yet time and again corruption and control are found in abundance within religious organizations. The true face of God is not something to be found in man-made buildings, but the world as a whole. As Mother Teresa once said, “We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.”
In author Delores J. Porter’s God Out of the Shadows: Book Two, the author explores the concept that during the Dark Ages of human history, Christianity underwent a change as a religion which allowed evil influences to embed itself into the Christian doctrine, allowing so many followers of Christ to find themselves turned against the truth of their faith. Addressing the fables found in the Christian doctrine as people know it, the author works as God’s lawyer, using the Scripture as evidence of the manipulations made in his name so long ago. Understanding who God is as a whole, the book shows how the universal church can change and grow to return from the darkness so many have found themselves in.
The author did a fantastic job of presenting a well-researched and thought-provoking read on religion and Christianity as a whole. The concept of how the mindset and outlook modern-Christians have taken, which presents as a more defeatist, God wants me to suffer for a reason style of faith, was fascinating to read about from the author’s perspective. The authors use of historical context regarding the Dark Ages was a fascinating research part of the overall nonfiction narrative, as the Dark Ages are such a mysterious part of our world’s history, and the concept that corruption could have taken root in one of the world’s largest religions is something which is well thought out and developed by the author in this book.
This is the perfect read for those who enjoy non-fiction books, especially those that delves into the topic of faith and Christianity specifically, and enjoys a bit of history and research mixed into these faith-based books. I found the author’s perspective and incredible talent for developing philosophical and thought-provoking discussions within his book to be inspiring.
Insightful, thoughtful, and engaging, author Delores J. Porter’s God Out of the Shadows: Book Two is a must-read book for anyone seeking a non-fiction book on Christianity and the true meaning of God and Jesus Christ. The heart and passion for which the author writes is evident clearly in the writing, and the deep and enlightening topics that the author stirs up for discussion are balanced with the research and development that the author put into this book’s core.
