The Bible is one of the most challenging books anyone spiritual would ever read, partly because the text is written in a way we wouldn’t understand. Since this is one of the main issues, many people opt out of the attempt to read it, which develops into more problems. Scripture that is read daily feeds and nourishes your soul while helping you grow as a person attuned to your creator. God wants His children to learn about Him and the way of life He approves of, but how can you follow instructions if you don’t understand the instructions? This is when spiritual leaders come into play because of their role to guide individuals on a path of righteousness. By building up your faith and spiritual awareness, you grant yourself more advantages which are given to those that God favors.
In Holy Spirit: Mystifying Scriptures Volume 1, author C.J. Pitts provides a great selection of scriptures from the King James Version of the Bible for his readers to learn. Digitally created abstract art aids the depiction of the scriptures to offer a visual element to the book. Each verse from the Bible offers enlightenment to the readers, allowing them to learn about God and the way of life; even for someone who is beginning to read scriptures for the first time. This opportunity benefits a person in a way which caters to becoming a complete and worthy soul doing God’s work. The art adds color to the words, as it illustrates the meaning of the verse without over complicating it. It is visually appealing and the captions beneath the verses give clarity as to what is displayed in the artwork.
Some of the images were more abstract than solid elements, but each one offered a pop of color. This gave a vibrant feeling to the pages as you read through the Bible verses. Some characters from the Bible made an appearance in the art, in particular, Adam and Eve, as well as the serpent. Through art, one can understand how deceiving the serpent was because in some of the artwork, you can visually see the serpent has woven itself into a human being. Whether it was Adam or Eve, or another one of God’s children, it leaves the reader to interpret however they like. What stood out the most was the image of God. This was interpreted in the way the author sees Him, but not as described in the Bible. Someone would have to look up the certain verse that describes God, yet no one knows what He truly looks like. Having art accompanying the text creates the reading experience to be understood. As a reader, you would be grateful that the author explains each chosen verse through his art because it lets you follow along with more clarity.
Reading the selected scriptures was a refreshing experience because many don’t read the Bible as often as they should. The Bible verses were in bite-sized versions and it enabled an effective way to absorb information. At times, the Bible verses can be intimidating to individuals, and this book offers an opportunity to slowly ease into wanting to fully read it. I think if you try to only view the art you wouldn’t know what each illustration symbolizes as art interpretation is based on an individual’s knowledge. It encourages the reader to be more open to learning something new and expanding their knowledge with biblical text. Talent comes in many shapes and forms. The combination of understanding scripture, relaying it for others to easily comprehend, as well as giving great art to view, is the best method to encouraging others to read the Bible. The feeling after reading this book would give every reader a new outlook on their life as a whole, with the ability to improve the best way they can. By adding a new behavior of biblical reading to anyone’s list, will demonstrate deserved benefits an individual seeks.
This book was a short read, can be completed in one sitting, reading more Bible scriptures than many are used to. The feeling of growth is not immediate, but your soul will instantly recognize that you are reading verses from the Bible. It is a different feeling that shines within you because you feel extremely good. Author C. J. has done a great job with writing and adding the illustrations in this book, as it nurtures even the troubled of souls, leading them on the path of earning a favor of God. If one is not much into scripture, this book would be off to a great start. It is recommended for individuals of all ages, seeking some answers or guidance of how to maneuver around life. Every reader might be able to take away some new biblical knowledge or at least feel better after reading this book.
