In this new escapade and adventure of Hudson, the fedora wearing sleuth dog with a nose to solve crimes, readers embark on solving a seemingly impossible mystery. When this little girl Daisy returned to her house after Maria and her cleaning crew neatened the entire house, she found her room to be a total mess! How could this be, she wondered. Now she must clean it up all by herself.
To help solve this mystery she had Hudson come into the house, and sniff around for evidence. Hudson could smell the cleaning solutions used by the maids, also he got a good whiff of Millie, Daisy’s dog, along with other scents. Upon entering Daisy’s room Hudson found the culprit – Millie was hiding under Daisy’s bed, growling at the cleaning ladies when they entered the bedroom – doing what a dog does, protect her owner’s house against intruders. So, Maria and her crew just left Daisy’s room the way it was, not wanting to deal with a growling Millie threatening them.
Well, case solved. Daisy, her dog Millie, and of course the famous Hudson all came to the realization of the facts, and luckily nobody was hurt, only Daisy’s room still needed to be picked up.
Authors Sherri C. Southers and Robert W. Spruce have used a proven method of storytelling by creating a situation open to doubt, and then solving the mystery using Hudson’s logical olfactory senses. The illustrations are ideally suited to carry the storyline’s messaging clearly into a visualization for the youngest of readers to follow along. The pace of the story pages perfectly for the bedtime – or anytime – enjoyment of children’s imaginations. And another episode of Hudson will add to their collection of other books by these talented creators.
Hudson and The Millie Who Makes Things Chilly: Ms. Millie or Ms. Chilly? would make a good gift book to any lower single-digit year birthday, baby shower, or to add to the collection of a family library. We hope to see further episodes of Hudson in many books to come. Who knows, maybe Millie and Daisy will also be showcased again and again.
