Zhao Crowley welcomes you to her world with beautiful, sweet and impressive words. Her poetry is easy and straightforward. The author makes writing poetry seem effortless, as her words flow in a fantastic manner. I like Zhao’s poetry because she not only made it simple for everyone to understand, but she also used every day-words, which made the reading far from complex.
The book starts with a poem titled “Night”. Personally, the night is my favorite time. It is often quiet and calm, and I without struggle sink into my thoughts, contemplating about life. My favorite lines from the poem “Night” are “Looking for a relegation place… Unconsciously no feelings, no sense… The twilight breaks through… Masks self into the trivial again.. Disappears into the ordinary life, come and go.” I read those lines more than once. First in a rush as I wanted to see how long the poem was, then later in no hurry. I appreciate the words the author used. I love the mood the poem sets.
“The Fallen Jacaranda” was another favorite poem. I really love Jacaranda trees because they shed flowers at specific times of the year. They make the landscape so attractive, painting paths in compounds of purple. The symbolism used in this poem was perfect. I like the traits she was given; a gorgeous and brave tree that is not scared off by things like wind and rain. The Jacaranda still holds on to her pride even in moments when a tragedy is about to stroll by. I appreciate Jacarandas more after reading this poem.
Jacaranda: Waiting for Love in Forlornness is a beautiful book with amazing texts. It is a book that you read when you feel a little stressed out, as the author’s words will help you to temporarily forget your sad situation. Zhao is creative and brilliant in that she compiled phrases and verses that one can turn to when they are feeling down. Poetry heals the soul; Zhao Crowley’s work is proof enough. I would always keep this book with me, as it acts as medication for mild agony.
Can one really live without poetry? Sometimes you just want to immerse your head in a calming and stress-free world; Zhao Crowley has made this easier for you by writing this book. I have to emphasize the beauty of her words. I loved every poem in the book. What’s better than reading one poem? Reading 100 more. Well, with Jacaranda: Waiting for Love in Forlornness, you are sure to be going through the amazing and relaxing words the author put for us.
Personally poetry makes me happy, poetry cheers me up, poetry is a drug to my soul; Zhao Crowley did all that with her book. I’m grateful that we have authors like her, as they make our world serene amidst all the commotion.
