Launch Out by Frank Ovec is fairly straightforward book that details exactly how a person can begin their path to a relationship with God. The book serves as a guidebook for the uninitiated and offers insight into accepting God into one’s life and what it truly means to be “born again.” The author uses his knowledge to spread the message in a way that is simple and easy to understand, while answering questions that skeptics may have.
With economical prose each section of the book details a different aspect of being born again from answering questions such as, “what must I do?” to what it means to “launch out.” Ovec uses history and scripture to illustrate his points. Through his writings it’s clear that he has a wealth of understanding when it comes to explaining what scripture means and how to use it for action in the real world. At the end of each chapter, he offers selected passages from the Bible for the reader, which can work as a guided Bible study. At a mere 108 pages, the book’s length is both a strength and a weakness; it makes for a great beginning text to those new to the idea of being born again but those who are further along on their journey might want a longer, more in depth text.
It should be noted that the author’s own backstory of discovering Jesus Christ after a great light appeared to him while traveling on a Easter Sunday, illustrates a person’s path may start at any time and come from the most unexpected circumstances; knowing that may offer the reader comfort as they digest Ovec’s words.
In a day and age of so much fear, anger, and confusion, Launch Out is a great book for readers in search of spiritual guidance and redemption. Frank Ovec’s insight into the scripture as it affects our every day life is invaluable. This book is a positive addition to addition to anyone’s Library.
