Loving the Amazon is an erotic novel which captures the different sides romance brings to people who are in love. We see how one’s life can take a turn due to the choices made when in love or lust. I appreciate how the author created the characters. Every major character brings in a new twist to the story, making the reader engrossed in the storyline. John Andrew Donix’s book is not your typical romance novel as the author writes blazingly, narrating events with energy, and creating insane scenes. The reader gets hooked to the story from the very start; following the plot and not wanting to miss any action. Amidst the exciting tale, the reader gets to pick a couple of lessons. The story may be fiction, but the lessons in the book can help one make better decisions in real life. It is safe to say that Loving the Amazon is a future romance classic.
Meet Andy Greenwood. A young man who is genuinely in love so much so that he would ignore the faults of the woman he fell for. Andy loves Melissa and will do anything to protect her. Their union is beautiful. The author’s description of the duo’s love was so raw that one could feel how intimate, how passionate and in love the two were through the text. Andy’s words when talking about Melissa could tell you all you needed to know about his feelings for the girl. Their love seemed eternal until the author introduced a new part of their past. One would say that the two were a perfect match up until the author added some bits of their lives which were not mentioned before. John Andrew Donix is not only an extraordinary writer, but also talented in his art.
His writing style reveals how passionate the author is about his craft. The use of firstperson when narrating, the inclusion of literary stylistic devices such as symbolism and metaphors, and the excellent diction made this book wholesome. The story gradually stops being happy and gets filled with tension, trauma, extreme desire, betrayal, and loathing. Life happens, and Andy takes a different route. He later falls in love with another woman, Berenice, a Polish girl and also schizophrenic. I love how John Andrew Donix made the character that was Berenice. She was sharper, wittier, and brought a different energy. Berenice may not have been the right woman for Andy, but she was necessary at the stage of life that Andy was.
Berenice was a little more aggressive than Melissa too. Her attitude towards life could not be compared to Melissa’s. Sex can be a powerful and destructive tool. Sex is a major theme in the book. I recognize how the author initiated the conversation around sex and its significance in Andy’s personal life and relationships in general. The reader sees how the act of getting intimate can be addictive.
John Andrew Donix is a smooth writer. I was mesmerized by how he puts out words. The author is so good with words that the reader still gets the yearn to read more even when the narrator is talking about tragedy, sad events, and losses. Loving the Amazon is an excellent book for readers that enjoy love stories mixed with heartbreaks and misfortunes.
