Mandalas Reflections From Inner Space took me, a pragmatic, non-artistic girl on an eye-opening journey of soul searching, reflection and inner peace. For me, it was a great entry way into the mystic world though pictures. It at least opened for me a crack, and for this girl a crack was a feat, a view of the mystic.
On first sight this book led me to recognize the artistic value of the mandalas and their beauty. I loved the bright colors, the patterns, and the texture of the pieces. If only recognized as artwork, I think the mandalas have a value in this world. I found them to be very beautiful, especially as I learned their existence in the nature and the world around me. I could see how in each mandala different feelings and connotations emerged.
I was intrigued as I read of the uses and history of the mandalas, as I find history and culture not only interesting but key to understanding our world. So many cultures and religions, even psychology, have found uses for these beautiful portrayals: as healing, as spiritual, and meditative tools. I then begin to let my mind open up to seeing them as more than just pretty pictures. As I read the descriptions for each mandala, I tried to open my eyes and not just see, but really “feel” the possibilities. I allowed myself to go beyond and see the power in their manifestations.
The book is, of course, very illustrative but the wording was also easy to read and descriptive. If I can be transported through this text, I believe anyone can. It allowed me to explore a side of mine which rarely is brought to the surface. It was enough to make me ponder but not too much to be overwhelming. I recommend Mandalas Reflections From Inner Space to anyone who loves beauty and exploration.
