Business books have to be some of the toughest in the world to write because the content, on the whole, is analytical and often dry. It takes an exceptional writer to present the information so that it doesn’t make you want to daydream as soon as you start reading it. Metronomics: One United System to Grow Up Your Team, Company, and Life is not any run-of-the-mill business book, but it could have run the risk of being just as boring if it wasn’t for author Shannon Byrne Susko’s talent.
As the title suggests, the book covers Susko’s business strategy method of Metronomics. Metronomics is an exciting business idea which promises to make companies run smoother and give owners and CEOs more personal time, but no matter how interesting it is, it would still be tedious if presented in the most practical way. Instead, Susko adds an element of storytelling to the book, turning a bland business book into a relatable story that shows you how the practice works in a real-world scenario.
This is not Susko’s first book, and it shows. Creating a book of this nature at its length has to be a daunting task, but Susko has created a smooth and easy read from which all business owners will benefit. It is evident throughout this book that she cares about helping other businesses thrive. Business books are usually filled with confusing diagrams and meaningless statistics, but Metronomics stays on point and the few diagrams found are easily discernable.
There is no doubt that anyone who orbits around the business world will find value in this book. The more decisions you are responsible for, the more valuable you will find Metronomics. This is the kind of book that you will probably need to read several times to get the most value out of it, but the structure and writing make gaining this essential knowledge an enjoyable experience.
