Miracles from Prayers: Conversations with God is an inspirational book about beating cancer through the power of prayer. The author shares her life with the reader with a specific focus on her journey from cancer diagnosis, to treatment, to being cured.

Ms. Malik Oman has succeeded in writing a book which will be comforting to her friends and family and insightful to readers whose life has been touched by cancer, and specifically multiple myeloma. The author shares the power of prayer in her life and how it has impacted the lives of her family and her community. She relates her experience with the power of miracles and appreciates knowing others were praying for her too during her illness and when her husband/caretaker needed encouragement and healing prayers too.

I have lost family members and friends to cancer. I found it helpful to hear current insight into how cancer treatments and diagnosis have changed over just a few years and how there is always hope and room for miracles to happen. The author’s strategies for coping with her diagnosis and dealing with other family issues that happened during this time period included participation in a quilting retreat to connect with other like- minded women and to have a change of scenery and a short getaway. She was wise to plan activities for her time in the hospital and to stay busy when she felt well enough for the added sense of satisfaction of making many items to comfort and help others.

Overall, this book would benefit from a thorough proofreading and light editing to make minor corrections and remove duplicated portions. There were times when the events seemed out of chronological order and didn’t fit in with the storyline. Ms. Malik Oman’s book reads like a journal at times and the reader is given insight into her overall life when it was interrupted by her multiple myeloma diagnosis. Her faith is inspirational and it is heartwarming to read about her experience working with skilled doctors and nurses who were impressed by her incredible recovery. She has a lot to share and gives a strong testament about her beliefs and her connection to her community. This book is recommended for individuals and loved ones dealing with cancer. The author’s personal experiences will provide comfort and helpful reminders about giving thanks and praying for healing. It would be relatable for book clubs and devotional groups.
