Book Review
As the final installment in the Galadria trilogy, Peter Huddleston and the Knights of the Leaf is an exhilarating read that finishes the adventures of thirteen-year-old Peter Huddleston as the crowned prince of Galadria. Engaging in a way that immediately grabs the reader’s attention, further adventure abounds as Peter becomes more deeply integrated into his kingdom of Galadria where he encounters life or death battles, disclosed family secrets, life changing revelations, and the unique inhabitants of the Golden Realm. This book is a great addition to the series as the final installment; it propels the series to an intense, action – packed, and genuinely touching close. Although the whole series in general is very good, this book was definitely the best of the trilogy. This book continues succinctly where book #2, Peter Huddleston and the Mists of the Three Lakes, left off, with an intense war raging with the safety of the Willowbrook regime and the sanctity of all of Galadria is in jeopardy. Peter, severely injured during battle gets help from a mysterious warrior who rescues him, temporarily removing Peter from battle, during which a profoundly revealing encounter occurs leaving Peter, reeling. Returning to the battleground, he discovers that the battle is taking a violent toll, on his people and possible catastrophe looms, as his enemies move dangerously closer to taking over. In a race against time, Peter once again needs to prove his mettle by way of embarking a perilous mission through the Galadrian forest with only his slightly deaf grandfather to accompany him. On possibly the most important mission of his life Peter has to locate and entreat the Knights of the Leaf to come to the aid of his embattled and waning warriors of Galadria. While Peter’s quest is an arduous and dangerous journey, he learns a great deal about himself and the other exotic and otherwise unseen denizens of the Galadrian forest.
I enjoyed this final book in the Galadria series kudos to author Miguel Lopez de Leon for weaving such an imaginative and sometimes emotion rending story. I liked witnessing the evolution of the characters, and the plot dynamic as each book of the series progressed, it kept me interested in where the whole story was going. Also, the fantasy elements were unique, creative, and especially enhanced by their vivid portrayal. Moreover, I like the realistic portrayal of protagonist Peter Huddleston while he was an independent, honest and heroic character, deep inside he was still a young man who needed the loving support of his family and friends. I whole-heartedly recommend the Galadria series, this is a first rate young adult fantasy series that captivates.
